How do you get one special character along with digits? Do you just re-generate the password until that happens?
Some sites only allow/require a specific set of special characters, often excluding the ones I happen to pick! 
I’m not a 1Password user, but can you edit the passwords it generates? If so, you can just add/change a special character to make it compliant with the site.

That’s a good question. I sometimes edit the generated password so the special character is in the allowed set. Since 1Password then offers to save the actual login it works for me.
Yes. Though if the bullet obscuration is on it’s a little more difficult. Always possible.
Can anyone confirm if any of the options suggested can import from 1Password? Given I have several hundred passwords stored, I can’t imagine the problems with trying to recreate from scratch.
It varies from option to option…but one can always export as CSV and import. As long as you export the file which is unencrypted to someplace that doesn’t get iCloud or DropBox or whatever synced outside your local machine and nuke the file after you’re done importing it’s not a big deal security wise.
I’m still waiting on the release of v8 to see if the local backup and restore option gets added back in…otherwise I’m sticking with v7.
Speaking of v7…I’ve lost the ability recently to click on the 1PW button in Safari and get a popup of passwords to choose one from as well as the ability to select a 1PW logon via LaunchBar and have it open the page and input the credentials. Not sure if this was Monterey that broke it or one3 of the recent updates to v7 of 1PW…and I’ve put in a ticket to them about it, but wondered if anybody else has seen this? I’ve tried disabling and reenabling the extension in Safari, relaunching, rebooting but it’s not working any longer on an up to date Monterey 2015 rMBP and 1PW 7.9.1
The V7 issues you describe are what I’m seeing (can’t open a link and populate fields) but I also get a 1PW crash to go with it. At this stage I don’t have a working version of 1PW for my new baby.
Weird. I’m running V7.8.1 (subscription plan) on Pro Max and latest Monterey and haven’t noticed anything not working. I think I did have to update the Safari extension when I migrated. There was initial delay in loading my saved passwords – it opened to an empty vault which frightened me – but then after 30 seconds it downloaded everything from the cloud and worked.
I do see an update available on the Mac App Store, but I haven’t installed it yet since you have to first completely quit 1P before you can click the update button. Could it be that version has some bugs?
I noticed that Strongbox has a 1Password file import function. I have not tried it yet.
I replied in the other thread with how I solved it…essentially it’s an update issue between Monterey, 1PW, and the 1PW extension in Safari (the one installed with the app, not the 1PW For Safari one although that one might be iOS only). My issues were post Monterey upgrade and pre-migration to the M1 Pro MBP.
I’ve been testing Enpass. It was able to import my passwords, software licenses, etc., from 1Password.
Today I bit the bullet, paid the subscription fee and spent a quality 8 hours organising passwords. I opened every single login (over 300) and updated to new, non-replicated passwords. I removed all the cruft and ended with about 125 I still use.
It was a horrible job. I’d guess about half the time I used the Apple suggested ‘strong password’ 1Password failed to identify and update it. It’s horrifying when one of those cryptic passwords gets entered and then suddenly disappears and isn’t in your passwords manager.
Fortunately, Keychain Access did a great job of catching all of them but it meant lots of time opening KA, showing password, typing the OS password and then copy/pasting into 1Password. I now have 12 months to decide whether to stick with 1PW or work out an alternative.

I don’t think it’s a good idea to leave the browser password autofill enabled with a 3rd party password manager. Use 1Password’s extension instead, let it offer password suggestions and let it ask if it should save the account information; it doesn’t get account info saving correct 100% of the time (some sites make it impossible for it to know what the username is, for example) but if it suggests the password, it will always have a record of that.

Ever since I started using 1P (years ago) I’ve made it a rule never to accept a Keychain suggestion and always to hit “Never for this website” on the assumption that doing otherwise would end in tears. I wasn’t aware you could the durn thing off entirely, though, and will do so now.

I agree…still waiting to see if v8 of 1PW ships with local backup and restore capabilities. I can deal with the crappy non native macOS app and no local vaults if I have to…and have a subscription anyway…but no local backup and restore will be a deal breaker for me. Enpass seems to be pretty much a clone of1PW in capability and has local vaults which I personally prefer and local backup/restore capability. The only thing it lacks is that being a non subscription and no knowledge app…there is no web access at all. I found that convenient for making sure our son/executor has access to a secure note that tells him the immediate passwords he needs to start things rolling and how to get access to the rest of the passwords and secure notes…but I can always go back to giving him a paper copy of that if I need to or else have a second vault in a shared DropBox folder with the info and give him the password for the vault.
Related aggravation: When I updated my iPad to iPad OS 15.1, I lost the ability to use the Safari iPassword 7 browser extension that autofills passwords. The reason: I’m using a perpetual standalone 1Password 7 license, and Dropbox to sync. In iPadOS 15, AgileBits has added a message that they don’t support it, so I must subscribe.
I can still use the app, and I can still copy and paste into browser windows on iPad. But that’s one more crank of the vise handle to squeeze out the standalone licenses.
I switched my standalone v7 location to iCloud with no problems. Everything still works the same in browsers and iPad/iPhone.

You should worry…it is a great product and my wife won’t switch away from it. However…sync of data between platforms is difficult and not automatic…and it is still a one man shop which is why I believe depending on it is a mistake. Updates and added features er few and fr between…and the author has a new business…possibly because PW no longer pays the bills or because he is losing interest in it or possibly a dozen other reasons. Regardless…vital software supported by a one man shop means we are only a heart attack away from it being abandoned. I’m not suggesting that he will or is even considering abandoning it…just that there isn’t much of a support organization behind the product.
