All normal ways of Zooming In/Out – Cmd+/Cmd-, or the View menu items Zoom In/Zoom Out, do not work for me across my M1 MacBook Air and M4 mini. I can only zoom with trackpad on MacBook Air. Does anyone else experience this? I’m on macOS 15.2 but it happened in 15.1 also. I don’t know when it stopped. I know I used to be able to Zoom.
On the FindMy app on my M1 iMac there a ± on the lower right of the map for zooming in and out.
True. But why in the world do the menu items for Zoom In/Zoom Out not work. They are there in the menu! And why does the system-wide option of Cmd+/Cmd- not work. Seems like a bug, or some sloppiness from the Apple engineers, to me.
Probably it’s not pertinent since I’m on Big Sur, but Cmd+, Cmd+, menu Zoom In, menu Zoom Out, and the mouse scroll wheel all work for me, so it sounds like a bug in macOS 15.
However, I have a new (not-fully-set-up) M3 that has macOS 15.1 on it, so I activated Find My (and turned off some switches for stuff that Apple thought should be stored in iCloud; I have opinions about Apple’s choices of default settings). Zoom In and Zoom Out are gray, Cmd+ and Cmd- do not work, so I’m left with Shift-trackpad or trackpad pinching or the + and - buttons on the lower right. Also, while Items and Devices all appeared, all People are still being located after several minutes. I hope that resolves itself.
On 15.1.1 the Zoom menu items are now greyed out. I guess they think that’s how to fix the bug.
HA! Yes, maybe that’s the answer to what’s going on here.
This seems to be what I’m seeing too. And I have a friend with MacBook Pro, who has not yet upgraded to 15.2. The menu items and Cmd+/Cmd- worked for her too. So it seems like a 15.2 problem, I guess.
Just thinking out loud here, but I wonder if this new (bad) behavior of Zoom could be related to the new feature of allowing AirTags to share locations with airlines.

This seems to be another example of macOS being downgraded (should that be “depreciated”?) to match the iOS user interface (Keynote was one of the first!). Perhaps the Apple team neglect using the keyboard for commands when testing products and concentrate on using the mouse/trackpad in the same way as an iPhone/iPad screen.
Grr!
Maybe, but why leave the now-dysfunctional Menu bar items in place?
I’d encourage someone to file it as a bug in the Feedback app.
Good idea. Done!
