So I had purchased an open-box Ultra Apple Watch back in Feb, when Apple was sued for the Blood O2 fiasco.
But not heard anything since and if we’ll see the O2 back or never?
There has been no change since then. Apple Watches imported into the US since late January (all Apple Watches sold in the US are imported - Apple doesn’t manufacture them here) have a special item number that’s used by watchOS to disable the oxygen sensor in the watch. If the watch was imported earlier, the oxygen sensor remains functional. Plus, of course, it’s functional in the countries that support the sensor on the Apple Watch.
I wonder if Apple will say anything about it at the Sept 9 event announcing new watches? It’s possible, I suppose, that this year’s models will use technology that isn’t protected by Masimo’s patent(s).
