Weather Complication with watchOS 10.6.1

I have my Series 5 Watch set to automatically update the system. It tells me its on 10.6.1. I haven’t updated my iPhone to 18, it’s on 17.7. (Why is it so hard to find what OS the Watch is using? On the Watch It’s not under ‘System>General>About…’, the logical place, but under System>[My ID Name]>[My ID Name’s] Apple Watch then under the heading DEVICE INFO/Version. Very convoluted.)

For the last few days I’ve been repeatedly asked on the watch to “Allow the Weather to use my location,” but the options don’t include “Always allow.” This never happened before and I can only assume something happened with the latest WatchOS update.

I have the Weather app set to ‘Always allow…’ in the phone OS. Neither the Watch app on the phone nor the Watch itself even show the Weather app as a complication available to add anymore, though the Weather app works as normal on the iPhone itself.

I use a Watch face which should have the Weather as a complication at the bottom of the screen but it has disappeared, and I can no longer add a Weather complication either directly on the Watch or using the Watch app on the iPhone. I can swipe up to access the Weather app, if I have recently allowed it to use my location, but sometimes it’s just not there.

Apple discussion boards refer to this ‘bug’ within earlier updates, but this is the first time I’ve seen it. A mentioned solution is to turn off WiFi, but that hasn’t worked for me.

Is anyone here experiencing this and does anyone know of a fix?

Something similar happened to me a few years ago and the only solution that worked was unpair and pair again.

But check (on the iPhone) settings / privacy / location and see if Apple Watch faces is set to “while using”.

Also, before the unpair/repair, have you tried a simple power off and power on of both the watch and the phone?

Unpair/repair seems to have solved the issue. Thanks.
