Walmart lists a 30TB portable SSD for $39. It is, naturally, a scam

It looks like Walmart went overboard on their 3rd party sales program

Hey but at least it ships with a micro USB adapter so you can enjoy writing to those 30TB at a blazingly fast 480 Mbps.

I see a lot of similar ads on Amazon.

ZDNet was flogging a similar product maybe a month ago. Not surprised that anonymous Amazon brands and sellers you’ll never hear from again try this. But well-known names like Walmart and ZD Net?

I don’t know about ZDNet, but WalMart’s web site (like countless others) includes “marketplace” sellers. These are not sold by WalMart, but are third-party sellers using their web site to take orders. Very much like how Amazon works.

Looking at the listing (via the Wayback Machine, because WalMart removed it), this item is sold by “Joybuy Express”, not WalMart.

According to WalMart’s seller review page, Joybuy Express has a terrible reputation. They don’t ship what was ordered, assuming they ship anything at all. Clearly a scam organization.

It’s unclear if they are in anyway related to Joybuy.com, which appears to be a Chinese marketplace site, similar to Alibaba.
