When I select a file from an application’s Open Recent menu option (which I use countless times a day), I am either presented with a “file doesn’t exist” message (e.g., Preview, Skim, URL Manager Pro) or I have to grant file access (e.g., Word, Excel).
When I use the Open menu option in Word or Excel, the chosen file opens AND the grant access error also appears. When I use the Open menu option in, e.g., Preview or Skim, the file opens with no error message.
When I double click on a file in the Finder, or use the Open With… contextual menu option, the file opens OK.
These odd behaviors must be due to the OS because many, many applications are affected.
I’ve checked the file access settings in System Settings, and all appear correct (plus everything worked perfectly before applying the update). Safe Boot didn’t fix anything.
I’d be grateful for any feedback. Using the File-Open menu option or navigating to the file in the Finder is awfully annoying when the file is listed in Open Recent.
