USB A(?) to Thunderbolt/USB 4 adapter

I’m sure this has been addressed in TBT but I can’t find it.

I’m considering an M1 MB Air which I know has only two TB/USB 4 ports. I have external drives and a mouse that use the old, large rectangular plug to attach to the 2015 MacBook, and I’d like to continue using these peripherals.

There is an almost infinite selection of adaptors on Amazon but I don’t have enough knowledge to be able to tell which is best for this purpose. I realize the speed limiting factor will be the older devices, but this is not a critical worry. I just want to be able to use them for background backups and continue to use the external mouse.

TIA

Apple makes a USB-C to USB-A adapter which works well, and appears to support full USB-3 speeds. I use it all the time on my M1 Air.

I would consider a dock such as https://eshop.macsales.com/shop/owc-usb-c-travel-dock

For the external drives, just get an appropriate new cable. Like these (depending on drive port).

For the mouse any simple cheap adapter will do. I use one of these myself.
