I’ve used App Zapper for many years to remove apps from my Mac. It is not, maybe never was, in the App store. I used it with confidence and trusted nothing from the app remained once zapped. I have a few other apps that I would remove, considering the threat posed by Mythos. Any recommendations?
My personal favorite is AppCleaner from FreeMacSoft.
I have AppCleaner and PearCleaner; both seem to do a good job. PearCleaner has the more modern interface and “feels” better to use, but AppCleaner occasionally detects a few things that PearCleaner doesn’t. And vice versa.
I don’t understand how Mythos affects the issue, so I can’t comment from that perspective.
Ultimately, this is going to depend on the nature of the app.
If it’s something that runs locally and doesn’t involve Internet/cloud connectivity, your risk is going to be fairly low.
If it’s something that makes connections to Internet servers, or opens up ports to receive incoming connections, or interfaces with web browsers as a plug-on/add-on, then your risk is going to be higher.
Thanks for the counsel. I have AppCleaner and it does the trick.
