Unable to update Xcode through App Store

Hello, I’ve recently updated my mac, but now I’m unable to update Xcode 26.1 from the app store, all other apps have been updated well. Please help me with this issue.

I usually see XCode updates appear in System Updates, in the area where you see macOS updates.

If there’s nothing there and you’re sure there is an update, you can go directly to the Apple Developer downloads page to find the download links. The XCode installer link is to the App Store: ‎Xcode App - App Store. It is currently pointing to version 26.1.1.

What are your current MacOS and XCode versions? You mentioned you recently updated, but you didn’t say to what. The latest XCode 26.1.1 requires at least MacOS 15.6

The developer downloads/all page has current and previous versions, going back pretty far, if you need them
https://developer.apple.com/download/all/?q=xcode

But the standalone versions don’t auto-update through the app store; you’ll have to download any updates manually.

I’m using macOS Sequoia 15.6.1.

Interesting. The latest Xcode update (26.1.1) updated via the App Store. But the command-line tools updater appeared via System Updates.

Hey, I have deleted the old Xcode version to install updated one, but I’m facing issue with its left overs and it has not deleted completely.

I recommend the DevCleaner utility to anyone using Xcode regularly. It’s saved me quite a bit of space from the unneeded leftovers of version migrations. (I have no connection with the developer, just a satisfied customer.)

Hey thank you for your recommendation, it seems like a legit workaround to delete xcode automatically, but I already deleted it with the help of this guide using the terminal, now onwards I will use it for sure. The devcleaner is looking much easier than the method I have used.

Thank you guys, I have installed the updated version of xcode successfully.
