So am pretty much brand new to 15.2, coming from High Sierra. For YEARS I used a great product called Spel Catcher. Even got friendly with it’s author. Well, he passed away and there has been no resurrection. It had its troubles in HS, but it mostly worked. So for the past almost month I have been using the built in checker and must say, it’s not very good. I have a deficiency that means I mistype a lot of words, so it’s kinda very important to me. Is there ANYTHING out there that serves as a really good spell checker? AND that’s not loaded down with other stuff that’s of dubious value to me.
Not sure if “ProWritingAid Everywhere.app” has too much stuff. Try it and decide for yourself.
I am trying it… but I’m not sure it is doing anything, I DO see the built in checker was also active. I am not looking for any “writing tools” other than a simple spell check. Will report back in a week.
I use the free version of Grammarly. The paid version is a little too expensive for my needs.

It does do grammar (of course) in addition to spelling, but there’s no AI.
I wish I had been able to experience Spell Catcher. It seems to have had a very loyal following for good reason.
Spell Catcher was an amazing program, it was tightly focused on one thing only, checking selling. This ProWriting is starting to really annoy me, it just popped over something and covered what I was writing so I could not see the context. They were flagging a word that was not misspelled, suggesting the exact same thing I had already written. Seems to be way more aimed and long form writing like a book or an article. Thing is I write in email, various boards, discord, and messages, all mostly pretty short writings.
