I have an encrypted sparsebundle. Under Big Sur, whenever I edited a file in the sparsebundle, the modification date of the sparsebundle, as displayed in the Finder, was updated. Under Sequoia (15.1), the modification date was not updated. If this is something that I might be able to fix, please tell me how. Many thanks.
I can’t help with a solution but thanks for pointing this out. I have a sparse bundle file I created on 3 July 2022, which I use every few weeks, but I find its modification date hasn’t been updated since creation. This seems to point to it being a change that appeared in Monterey (macOS 12.x).

Yes - this confused me when I was creating a Time Machine backup on a new SSD. I looked at the sparsebundle on another drive and it was dated last year, even though I had just done a TM backup.
A good reason for checking backups once in a while. For example, locate a recently created/updated file and run a Time Machine Restore to make sure it is in the backup.
Today, with no change in macOS version and no restart of the Mac, the sparsebundle modification date was updated when I dismounted the sparsebundle. This makes no sense to me. (Of course, I’m happy with the change and hope it sticks. I’ve been using touch in terminal to change the modification date, which is way more tedious than having it happen automatically.)
