My granddaughter was just gifted one of the 7th Gen iPads. Not a Pro model. I was looking for recommendations as to a quality, reliable and durable case.

How much protection do you require?
We’ve always been fond of the Griffin Survivor and OtterBox Defender cases. They’re not cheap and they definitely bulk-up your beautiful iPad, but they will protect it against nearly anything you’re likely to hit it with.
