Problems moving items into folders in the Finder

I’m going to post this here, as I think it is related to the new MacOS 26. Is it just me or is moving things into folders a mess? I can have 2 Finder windows open and try to move a file from one window over to the other Finder window, place it over the List mode (large icons) and the “folder” will flicker a little, but I can’t put it in. It will invariably drop into the enclosed folder and then I can move it into the required folder. Sometimes it will go in, but there is no obvious indication from the Finder with the change that allows that.

If I have items in the same folder and want to move it to the subfolder, the subfolder will highlight (blue in my case), but that indication does not happen from an external folder. Anyone else noticing this?

Yes, it’s a known bug. I don’t know why it’s not more publicized. I hadn’t heard anything until I upgrade to MacOS 26 this weekend and it bit me. I reported it to Apple. It’s maddening. I’ve been able to drop items into a folder since 1984! Now it’s completely broken.

Apparently this is only in List view. But that’s all I use. The workaround is to drop onto the name of the folder instead of the folder icon. That works just fine. But the active part of the name is only as long as the folder’s name, so a folder with a short name has small target.
