Has anyone used Glyph external drives?
They’ve been around for a long time. High-end, high quality drives marketed at professional content creators. Think movie and music studios.
They will serve you very well, but may easily be beyond your budget.
It is interesting that the Glyph Blackbox Plus U.2 Enterprise Class NVMe SSD was released on Tuesday,May 6, 2025 with only USB-C / Thunderbolt 3 - With Thunderbolt 5 interface being released in November 2024 on working systems like the MacBook Pro and Mac mini models featuring the M4 Pro and M4 Max chips.
Yes, I’ve had thee of them over the years. Highly recommended at the time by Randy Singer, but they were all platter based then and slow to adopt SSD’s. Enclosures were super reliable, but the last two 2GB Seagate drives failed just after Glyph warrantee expired. Replaced them with 4GB drives in same enclosure and one of those failed shortly after. Haven’t heard any feedback on SSD users.
