I just got a new iPhone 17. During and after doing a 15 minutes direct migration from 12 mini. iPhone 17 was hot and is still downloading apps. Is this normal? iPhone 12 mini wasn’t hot. Both iPhones were and are still being charged via USB cables, and running iOS v26.3.1.

Usually with initial app downloads and iCloud syncing, it may go like that for hours or a day and then will level off. Taking a case off (if you have one on) will let it cool a bit better, but getting warmer during the activity will be normal unless it gets too hot or swells, which is rare if at all.
