Moneydance 2024.3

The Infinite Kind has issued Moneydance 2024.3, the final update before the personal finance management app is upgraded to Moneydance 2025 later this year. The maintenance release improves the performance of iCloud Drive syncing, fixes “excruciating” pauses after changes are made when iCloud Drive syncing is enabled, automatically assigns the current exchange rate to inter-currency transactions synced from mobile devices, fixes a bug that sometimes caused deleted accounts to reappear, makes improvements to net worth calculations, adds a blue register icon to indicate transactions that have been downloaded and merged, adds an Un-Merge from Download action to the transaction register popup menu for local transactions that have been merged with downloaded transactions, and ensures the QIF import window remembers its size and location for subsequent imports. ($65 new from The Infinite Kind (with a 40% discount for TidBITS members) and the Mac App Store, free update, 153.4 MB, release notes, macOS 12+)

I’m running MD 2021 and am curious to know if MD has become any more Mac ish?
Undo. Shortcuts to select accts. Ability to calc option trading. Prefs/Appearance: better customization for reports. More date filtering presets. Etc. The change log is a bit lacking. They seem to be caught in Cloud and sync more than improvements to just general function.

Moneydance is not any more Mac-like in its latest version, no. It looks very much the same as the 2021 version. I’ve been using it for close to 20 years, and I don’t think it’s ever going to be Mac-like as it’s cross platform, which to me is worth it.

As with all of these types of software, YMMV depending on needs and preferences.

thanks Kevin. Bummer that they haven’t added at least some Mac basics that Q has had for years. Hard to rationalize an upgrade
