Mixing iCloud and App Store accounts on two iPhones?

Can I have 2 different iPhones in different countries with the same icloud email (account) but different app store emails (accounts)?

thanks in advance for your time and help

Yes.

It all works as expected.

  • I have the same Apple ID/email account logged in on my iPhone and iPad
  • On my iPhone I switch between UK/USA/Japan stores using the sign out/in option in the App Store (not in System Settings)

Thank you for your reply which is surprising and goes against everything that I have read, including

  • a 3 month interval after changing countries before you can switch back
  • forced to cancel all subscriptions before changing countries.
  • a different payment method (ie it has to be local) for each country

Do you use the same email for your AppleID and the app store ?

I think something has been confused along the way.

  • What you asked in the title was using different accounts: this is possible as I mentioned.
  • But now you’re asking about changing regions on a single account: this does have limitations as you point out.

I’m not changing the region on an account. I’m logging in with different emails/accounts that are attached to different app store regions.

Regarding payment: only my main UK account has a payment method attached to it. USA and Japan I use for downloading free apps, and I’ve never needed to buy anything on those accounts.

My main device AppleID/iCloud is my UK one. I use that for UK store purchases as that is my home region. I use two different emails/accounts for USA and Japan and sign out/in only inside the App Store when I need to juggle things.

…this feels like the XY problem.

What are you actually trying to do?

That I had understood

That changes everything, so your solution does not apply to me.

thank you again

But I could add payment methods to those accounts.

What are you trying to do?

First of all, I use different emails for my “apple ID” (ie icloud related) account and my app store /media etc account. Is that the case for you ?

My question is very simple: do you have to change countries only for the app store account or both the AppleID (icloud related) accounts ?

Curious that you still won’t say what your goal is!?!

Yes.

  • I never change my System iCloud login
  • I only change my App Store login

A picture is worth a thousand words, so whenever I need to switch store regions I do this dance:

  1. open App Store app
  2. tap on profile image (shows “Account” which will be your “home” login)
  3. scroll all the way to the bottom, past all the pending app updates, to “Sign Out” (see pic)
  4. after signing out you’ll see an option to sign in, use your alternative region app store login
  5. when done, repeat steps to sign back into your “home” login

this answers my questions perfectly. Thank you very much for your reply and for taking the time to create a list and a screenshot !! I am. very grateful. I did 11 years of japanese with a private tutor. I used to speak fluently (but not read or write except for the basics. I had decided to focus exclusively on conversation).

Funny story: when I was looking for a private tutor, I put an ad in the university daily. When I met my tutor for the first time, she rang at my door, I opened it and was stunned: she was a tall blond 100% north american model who worked 50% in North America and 50% in Japan, very intelligent and spoke excellent japanese.
ありがとうございます。とても感謝しています
