I just noticed that a fake text that I deleted/reported from my phone still populated the queue of
my messages app on my computer. Seems odd to not have synced (i.e. deleted) that one and only text.
All other texts have been syncing and updating fine to both systems.
I find I need to go onto the Messages menu on my desktop now and then, select Settings, then the iMessage tab, and then Sync Now. It sometimes seems to forget to sync.
I read that and decided to do it. And Messages told me I needed to authenticate. I do not send or receive messages often, but I did both two days ago without issue. Why would I need to authenticate today? I can’t remember the last time I needed to provide my email address and password to Messages.
I did find that I had to officially enable (Enable Messages In iCloud) in order to Sync Now.
Messages had been syncing, for the most part all along.
Turns out I had a lot of messages in iCloud previously deleted from phone that repopulated the phone after enabling the feature.
be careful what you wish for I guess.
Still a mystery why the spam text deleted from my iPhone still showed up on my laptop Messages app.
If you delete messages without first reading them, they will still be counted as ‘Unread Messages’, triggering the counter on the app icon, on all devices other than the device you deleted the message on. You then need to run a sync to clear the counter. To prevent this ‘read’ a message before deleting it.
