M3 chip shows as M2 after Sonoma 14.1.1 update

After updating to Sonoma 14.1.1, ‘About This Mac’ says my chip is M2 - should be M3. 15-inch M3 MacBook Air 16GB memory. What’s happening?

[Corrected] There’s a MacBook Air with an M3 chip? Apple only lists M2 MacBook Airs. The only product lines that currently have the M3 are the MacBook Pro and iMac.

Don’t forget the 2023 iMac M3…

As others have said, it truly is M2 if it is a 15” MacBook Air. There are no M3 MacBook Air models yet.

I have to apologize—I was moving quickly and found this in the moderation queue, and I think it was from a while back. I was more puzzling over why Discourse hadn’t shown it to me before and didn’t really read the post.

I’m wondering if Ken just had an off-by-one moment, and his 15-inch M2 MacBook Air was showing as an M1.

Yes, my mistake. My 15-inch MacBook Air always was and is an M2 model. Thank you for your response.
