iPad 7th Gen. Beyond hope of saving?

My iPad 7th Gen suddenly started randomly rebooting when I put it onto charge two days ago.
I did a hard reset several times but it crashes again soon after I log in, then starts on the rebooting. Although I could log in it would crash and reboot
I’ve done a DFU full restore but again it crashes at the point where I enter my Apple ID (even without attempting to transfer any data from the Cloud backup).

Does this sound like a dead or mortally wounded iPad or is there anything else I can try?

It might possibly be that one or more apps on your iPad have started creating problems. Try checking all the apps you collected from the App Store and make sure they are up to date and functional.

Think about deleting any apps you aren’t using regularly. They might be causing space and/or functional problems.

And check to make sure your battery is up to date and working AOK.

Thanks - unfortunately I can’t even get to that point as the iPad crashes - as it does following a total reset to factory settings. The battery seems to be OK and holds a charge for 48 hours. I fear it is a dead iPad.

This sounds like something the Apple Store Genius Bar or an authorized repair shop would best answer. Honestly you’ve done all I would have tried before calling on them.

My iPhone 12 mini started that behavior last week. After a day of it, I noticed the battery was swelling. ;-(

Hope that isn’t your problem! Mine WAS preceded by a catastrophic drop that it initially appeared to survive.

Thanks - although my iPad is a seasoned international traveller (with me) and may have been treated less than kindly at times as I lugged it around, I can’t recall ever having dropped it. I’ve come across this channel on YouTube, Northridgefix, and he seems to have repaired a number of iPads with this problem. It seems the coils(?) come lose or a thryster(?) fails. No idea really, but tiny bits of tech on the main board. A little academic though as I’m in the UK and he is in California but it does seem to be the same issue. He seems to be a wizard repairer - no such wizards where I live unfortunately.
