iOS 15.6 Face ID Failure

iPhone 13 Mini, updated to iOS 15.6 and Face ID stopped working. Reset Face ID but now I’m unable to set it up again. Every time I get to step 1 “Position your face within the frame” the image freezes, and a few seconds later I get the message “Face ID is not available. Try setting up later”.

I’m guessing that I might simply have to wait for a system update but perhaps someone here already has a solution?

If restarting the phone doesn’t help, and cleaning the front notch area doesn’t help, I’d contact Apple support. It sounds like what people report when there is hardware failure for the Face ID system.

Just to wrap this up, it was a hardware failure. Pure coincidence that it happened at the same time as the iOS update
