Mozilla has issued Firefox 136 with an updated sidebar that provides quick access to multiple tools, such as the AI chatbot of your choice, bookmarks, history, and tabs from synced devices (enable via Settings > General > Browser Layout). It also introduces a new vertical tabs view, which can be turned on by right-clicking the toolbar near the top of the browser and choosing Turn on Vertical Tabs.
The release also updates the Clear Browsing Data and Cookies dialog to allow clearing of saved form info separately from history, upgrades page loads to HTTPS by default, moves some background tabs on macOS to lower power cores to reduce energy usage, adds support for hardware-accelerated playback of HEVC video content in macOS, and prefers the PNG image format when copying images out of Firefox to preserve transparency.
