Can't empty Trash as it's greyed out

macOS Sequoia 15.2 on MacbookPro16

Click Trash icon in Dock, a Finder window opens usually with
a clickpoint to Empty Trash. Remains greyed out.
But . . .
I can longpress Trash icon in Dock then empty trash but not via Finder.
Ideas are appreciated.
Patrick

Is it possible that the items in the Trash reside on a disk that is not mounted?

I’ll look into that. It surely makes sense.
Thank you

Well, it’s not that as I delete on the MacbookPro, it goes to the Trash Can, but it won’t delete clicking on EMPTY in so-called Trash Finder Window.
Will keep searching but thank you. Patrick
