Rogue Amoeba has issued Audio Hijack 4.5 with several notable improvements to the audio recording app’s Transcribe functionality. Introduced initially as a beta feature (see “Audio Hijack 4.3,” 6 November 2023), the Transcribe block loses the beta label as it gains performance and efficiency improvements thanks to Apple’s Metal technology. The new Transcription Metal Acceleration hidden setting defaults to on for Apple silicon Macs and off for Intel-based Macs. The update also brings an improved Transcribe template that cleans up audio before transcription for better accuracy and resolves an issue where transcripts with multiple inputs for separate participants could occasionally misidentify the speaker.
