You know, I don’t use Any Apple online services, but they still require I have an account and want me to log in every day on every device. Stupid Apple.
Are you talking about an Apple Account that connects to iCloud and other online services, or a local user account on your Mac or iPhone?
Apple Accounts don’t require regular login in normal setup. Local user accounts do, but that ship sailed decades ago with the switch to Mac OS X.
The App Store requires you to log in for updates to any apps you have installed from that source.
Adam. Apple Account.
Gordon. I only keep my iPad up-to-date any more. I’m sure that will end soon. After all it is two years old. Ancient as far as they are concerned. None of the apps support my very old iPhone. It only works as a phone. So logging in would be a stupid waste of time.
Everyone. Apple, and many others, have a bad reputation when it comes to software. They keep abandoning apps and not providing a way to move data to other newer apps. Since I have data from the MacPlus era that I still use every day, I no longer update unless I have to.
If you can pay attention to what you’re doing that causes the login request, we might be able to suggest something. It’s definitely not normal behavior—I can’t remember the last time I had to log into my Apple Account on my iPhone.
