A difficulty with implementing this on a laptop is that there are no exterior buttons that can be pushed to change its behavior when opened. So a possible solution would for these cases would be a security option to change its behavior when the laptop is opened. So,if you had a ‘Require Password when opened’ option, that would solve the issue with some inconvenience added when opening the laptop as opposed to unlocking a laptop that had been left open.
