User of computers since I was 8 years old. Started with someone’s ZX-81, got a ZX Spectrum, then my own MSX; had access to MSX2 and Amstrad CPC computers, until moving to a PC1512 while desiring a Mac.
In 1990 I had my first Mac (1MB Mac Classic) with System 6.0.5, that was later upgraded to a Mac Classic II and 4MB, to fully enjoy System 7! Also later got a Power Mac 8200/120, where apart from System 7 to System 8.5 I also dabbled with MkLinux. Had some whimsy with an iBook G3 SE, and later jumped into the PowerPC G4 bandwagon with a PowerBook G4. Since then, I have gotten no more desktop computers, but I managed to get my parents to by an iMac G4 (best Mac ever), which was later replaced by an Intel iMac from 2012. That Mac is just waiting for an upgrade to SSD to revive itself!
I’m still a Mac laptop user, but all my recent laptops have been work issued. Current one is a MacBook Pro 15" (Early 2017), which had to have one scissor keyboard keycap fixed once. Waiting for the update to a MacBoo Pro 16" (Early 2021?)…
Apart from my work in the astronomy software development and data management field since 2005, I’m really passionate about photography (Flickr), and Interactive Fiction (in particular, Inform7)…
