Architect with particular interest in building conservation. Use 27” 5k iMac for drawing and design work. CADD application PowerCADD v.9 and beta testing v.10 on the MacBook, using Astropad Luna for connecting the 5k 27” iMac.

Photography, both new images and curating old photos for local museum collection. Uses Leica Q2 and the iMac or M5 16” MacBook Pro, Pro (48/2T) with Capture One, plus Epson V850 Pro connected to a 2012 headless Mac Mini server for scanning and Epson P5300 for printing.

Also long standing interest in hi-fi music reproduction with catholic tastes, using Linn app with DSM and a headless 2011 Mac Mini as music server, running Minim Server for thousands of, mostly, AIFF files and WAV files and quite a few AACs from my legacy iTunes downloads.

I stopped using iTunes last century and worked my way through a number of permutations of Mac and DAC arrangements. Tried half a dozen different forms of music software, each one an improvement on the last. The best, before Linn, was the old Mac-only version of Audiovarna set up in “direct” mode. The DSM drives an old pair of SD Acoustics SD1 loudspeakers and can AirPlay to the Apple TV and another music system with screen.

For a time I would also rip some vinyl using Sound Studio (an excellent application by Felt Tip) with my Townshend Rock turntable, until I gave away my DAC and PreAmp. Fun to do but too time-consuming and difficult to do well.

I used my first Mac at work in 1985 in Edinburgh and bought my first in 1991 [ IIvi + LCII + Apple 13” colour monitor + StyleWriter + Apple A3 Colour Printer]. Never ever used a PC, so I was considered “embattled” by my colleagues, at least until the century changed.
