My spouse and I are now each keeping our own contact list (after trying to share them and having conflicts with the My Card). When we each looked at our list, I had 345 contacts to her 294. There were clearly some she asked about that she was missing. So I exported my contact list on my Mac, emailed it to her, and she imported it. It seemed to have replaced all her contacts, but she still does not have as many contacts as me. Shouldn’t the list just replace hers and then we end up with the same list?
We have waited for the Cloud to finish syncing, but I still have nearly 50 more contacts than she does. What is going on here?
You could try exporting all your contacts to a CSV file and open it in a spreadsheet to verify that it is, in fact, exporting all your contacts.
If it is exporting all of them, the next thing to think about is iCloud sync. When you’re wholesale replacing a contact DB on a machine that you hope will then distribute to various iThings it’s a very good idea to turn off iCloud sync and delete all contacts on the iCloud website before you do the import. Then turn sync back-on. Scary but it’s the best way to avoid hair loss.
Good idea. I’ll try that tomorrow. Not sure why all the contacts would not export when I choose “Export Archive” but checking is the way of troubleshooting it.
