Glad it helped! I’ve been doing a lot of troubleshooting of my iMac recently, and I would be lost without the startup chime to tell me when to start holding down special startup keys.
As this thread has been resurrected, I should report that the technique was successful in bringing the chime to my 2019 MacBook Pro 16".
