Three Reasons You Might Want a Home Security Camera

A few months ago I set up some Reolink cameras RLC-410W with Synology’s Surveillance Station on our NAS at work (small office with cameras indoors, pointed at the doors). The system has been working well since then. The picture is very good day or night.

The issue with Ubiquiti is the price. I tried running their software and it certainly didn’t seem worth the premium IMO. Plus, we already owned the Synology so it was “free”.

The only surprise was the data storage requirement. Each camera uses about 30GB/day. 10 days and 3 cameras is about 1TB of disk space. You can enable motion-activated recording to reduce this significantly, but we have the space available so it is no problem. Just a surprise.
