I still laugh/feel bad for the very lovely English exchange student that came to our high school. In art class she needed an eraser, and started by asking the guy sitting next to her if they had “a rubber”. I’m sure she had expected some cultural differences, but was very perplexed by his inability to stop laughing, so she continued on and asked the next person in her very sweet, innocent sounding accent…

It took a few minutes before anyone could stop laughing enough to tell her what she had asked for.
