System Settings "AutoFill from" setting?

macOS 15 Sequioia’s SystemSettings;;General::AutoFill & Passwords has an “AutoFill Passwords and Passkeys” radio button. If and only if it’s on, another radio button appears below it: “AutoFill from” containing “Passwords” with that app’s icon. Is there a way to have other password managers appear as possible choices?

Yes, there is. If you have a compatible password manager installed, it’s registered as an option and you can choose it here, and it then integrates with the system.

I use Strongbox, which does this. It means that the experience of using it is similar to iCloud Keychain in Safari.

Does the third-party password manager do this registration independently? I use Bitwarden and its browser extension in Safari. I don’t see any relevant settings in Bitwarden.

I’m not sure exactly when the registration happens—it could be the moment the system detects the installed app—but yes, it’s controlled by that app.

Neither 1Password nor BitWarden did this when I last looked, both preferring to use script-based browser extensions including in Safari with their own dedicated apps that ship the browser extensions bundled. This is a different approach to the one supported by this “native” interface.
