Setting up new laptop

After months of research and shopping, I’m finally getting a new powerbook. Well, newish – a refurb M2 from Apple. In the past I’ve used Apple’s migration assistant to bring everything over from my older machines (as a result, I have files in my current machine that probably date back 20 years).

My old machine is a early 2015 powerbook running High Sierra. I know most of the software on it won’t work on the new machine, which, for now anyway, I plan to use just for Internet access – email, browsing and FTP.

So I would like to bring over all my stored email as well as bookmarks and passwords stored in my browsers. Is it possible to do a selective Migration Assistant transfer? Or is there a better option?
