In many ways it’s better; web sites no longer need to worry about securing passwords from attacks, etc., which will lower exposure to lawsuits if account data is exposed, etc. It will also remove some friction from creating accounts on web sites - users don’t need to worry about choosing a password, making sure that they are stored, etc.
It’s early days on this, though.
