Parallels has released version 26.1 of its Parallels Desktop for Mac virtualization software, featuring improvements for Linux and Windows. The update fixes a bug that caused Windows 11 virtual machines to crash with a blue screen of death (BSoD) when Norton 360 security software performed a scheduled smart scan, introduces a driverless version of Parallels Tools for Linux, adds several updated Linux distribution (including Ubuntu 24.04.3, Kali 2025.2, and Debian 12.11) for installation on Macs with Apple silicon, and resolves an issue that prevented virtual machines running Ubuntu 25.04 from sharing connected drives with the Mac. A subsequent version 26.1.1 was issued to address unspecified stability and performance issues. ($99.99 annual subscription for Standard Edition, $119.99 annual subscription for Pro Edition, $149.99 annual subscription for Business Edition, upgrades available, 5.4 MB installer, release notes, macOS 13+)

i’m running a 15” macbook pro with sequoia and parallels desktop pro 20. have not yet updated to tahoe. i have a mac os snow leopard server VM that’s run for years. when i updated parallels to 26.1 it killed booting of the snow leopard VM. it just started with a command line interface. i reverted to parallels 20 and the VM boots just fine. cheers

Parallels Desktop user here. Is it worth noting that a new Standard version license, without a subscription, costs now US $ 219.99. The Standard version limits the VM to 4 CPU cores and the available RAM to 8GB.
