I upgraded, but Parallels Tools failed to update, causing Parallels to freeze when the guest OS (MacOS 10.12 in my case) tried to reboot. An error report has been filed by someone else with the same error. (I tried half a dozen times before giving up.)
Then I was unable to reinstall Parallels 17, because the installer appeared to freeze. Fortunately, I was able to copy it from my weekly CCC backup and get back to work, having lost only about 3 hours.
As Adam always advises, wait a while before upgrading in case of problems such as this. I will heed his advice next time.
