Pages - can I hide header but not footer?

I’ve been trying out Pages for the page layout of a paperback book and so far it’s been a very pleasant experience, I’m impressed. (Pages 8.2 on MacOS Mojave 10.14.6)

Just one small problem I haven’t managed to solve - on the first page of a new chapter it’s conventional to leave the running header blank. I can do that, using section breaks, but hiding the header also hides the page number in the footer. Is there any way to avoid that?

Michael Cohen, author of Take Control of Pages says:

As far as I know, no. Pages only offers all or nothing hiding of headers and footers on the first page of a section. I suggest the user submit feedback: Pages > Provide Pages Feedback. Who knows, Apple may fix it. Weirder stuff has happened…

Many thanks for confirming what I thought. It’s an obvious lack for book layouts - I’ll send feedback to Apple as suggested.
