Oddity in Mail

I have just noticed this today, that sometimes my combined inboxes are highlighted in green (my chosen “Accent Color”), and sometimes in grey.

All other mailboxes are grey when selected. I can’t figure why it is sometimes green. It’s not unread messages, nor related to any accounts that have failed to connect to their servers. There’s nothing about it in Mail Help. I tend to leave Mail open but hidden. It seems to be random chance when I click on it in the Dock and bring it forward as to whether the Inbox will be green or grey.
Any ideas as to what it means?

Chris

Nope…but if you quit and relaunch Mail it goes back to normal. I’ve seen it too.

I’ve seen similar behavior in other Apple apps, most notably Apple Music. I can’t say that I’ve noticed it in non-Apple apps, though I may be misremembering.

My sense is that it is something that appears from time to time in apps that have been heavily iOS-ified. Again, I may be mistaken, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen this behavior in Mac apps developed using older, Mac-only frameworks.

This means that the keyboard focus is on the sidebar, so you can use the up and down arrow to move in the list.

If you press tab it moves the focus to the main list. If you press tab again, it goes back to the sidebar.

You’re right! If I press Tab many times eventually it goes to the Inbox and highlights it green. Thanks!
