I’m switching to a new email service provider, and part of that is revising my email app’s settings. But that’s not going well. The new settings won’t stick, and I’m stumped.
The email app is MailMaven (by SmallCubed - new but out of beta). Every time I change the server settings, port, etc and save, within a minute or so it reverts to the old settings.
Does anyone know what might be going on? And how to fix it?
@tc1 I’m not familiar with MailMaven so have to ask—does the app have an Accounts area/tab in its Settings? If so, does it communicate with the Internet Accounts area of the System Settings?
I’m guessing you probably need to enter the new mail provider configuration into System Settings>Internet Accounts first, then proceed to the accounts setup in MailMaven. Doing it the other way round could result in the still old System Settings overriding the mail app.
Thanks for your reply. I just finished setting it up a few hours ago thanks to a reply from SmallCubed support. I had been trying to edit an old account, i.e, swapping the name, password, server settings, etc. It started working thanks to these directions.
When changing your service provider, you are not simply editing an existing account; you are creating a new one with the same “name”. You will need to delete the existing account and create a new one. If you had tags on your messages, once all your messages have downloaded from the server, you will need to import your tag data from a backup file from before you set up the new account.
