Mapping F-keys to specific actions in an app

I had the same problems when I “upgraded” to Sonoma. I had some Applescript that I wrote many years ago to do a screen area capture and paste the clipboard into GraphicConverter (Cmd-J). The Mac refused to allow keystrokes.

The solution was to create an Automator application with the same AppleScript. For some reason, Sonoma has no trouble with Assistive access for Automator applications.
