I think there is an important distinction in cloud storage security: encryption carried out by storage providers on automatically uploaded data has a very different threat profile than user-encrypted files that are put into the cloud after encryption.
In any case, thinking medium to long term, when quantum computing makes the move out of labs into “the wild”, current forms of encryption aren’t going to matter much.
