Is there a current successor to MacDraw?

I think that I might have the perfect thing for you! I just became aware of it. And the price is right!

Everyone seems to be in a bad mood these days. It’s off-putting, but I just keep my head down and do my best to be helpful to folks, even when no one seems very appreciative. I hope that one of the products that I’ve pointed out ends up being of use to you.

In the past I have used Illustrator to annotate maps, but this is clearly using an expensive sledgehammer to perform a simple task… Can any of your suggestions draw versatile vector lines / arrows (with control points etc) and rendered shadow as in the screenshot. For simple arrows I can annotate with Preview, but arrow styles are very limited, control not so good and no shadow…

Grateful for any suggestions

I suggest taking a look at Affinity Designer for this.

It probably qualifies as a “sledgehammer” for this particular task, but at least it’s not an expensive one. A permanent license costs US$69 at this writing, and a free 30 day trial is available.

You can set the ‘slide’ size to be a paper size if you wish under Page Setup in Powerpoint. There’s all the usual listed there.

I also turn on View Rulers and View Guides, the combination of those and Page Setup make PP a reliable simple graphics tool.
