Apple Music will not play an external audio CD. The solution for Sonoma (in Apple forum) is “Go to Privacy and Security, then to Files and Folders, then go to Music and click on and accept Remote Volumes.” I’m running Ventura and Music is not listed in Files and Folders. How do I get it there?
VLC does play the CDs, and VLC is listed with Remote Volumes checked in my Files and Folders.
Well, quite by accident, I discovered the source of the problem, but not a solution. I do not believe it has anything to do with Remote Volumes.
I have Bluetooth-enabled hearing aids. I can send any type of audio from the mini directly to the aids. Internet streams, videos, even files on the internal drive played with Music. But, when the hearing aids are paired with the computer, Music steadfastly refuses to play an audio CD from the external optical drive (it still plays files from the internal drive). Remarkably, VLC does not have that problem.
So, VLC is my new media player. I’ll be sending the VideoLAN corp a donation.
