All of mine have been dark colors except for my XR which was a Product(red). Much easier to see where I set it down. Orange is a non-starter neither my wife nor I like orange - it doesn’t agree with our coloring.

.. whereas I am at the front of a pass-down queue with the kids. No guessing why they’re very keen for me to buy the iPhone 17 
. The tail end of that queue is return to Apple so the Daisy robot can take it apart and recycle it far more efficient than e-waste processes would.
I wish other phone manufacturers did this, Apple made the plans for Daisy available so there’s no real excuse, even from a money perspective as it substantially saves on raw materials.
So hey, I don’t usually care about the iPhone color, usually deciding on the model and memory size and then will pick my favorite color from the selection. I usually use a case, because, like the Apple Watch bands, I can get a completely different look with a different case. I also tend to keep my iPhones and iPads longer to use my cases longer (a new model never fits in an old case). I do like the RED series though.
But when people were talking about phone colors, I could not help but mention the new POP Phone from Native Union that works with iPhones/iPads/computers and looks great, sounds good and the Colors! Eight!
One more vote for ‘don’t care at all’ since it will be in a case until I clean it or replace it. I am trying to remember what color my primary iPhone now is… blue I suppose, oh yes the case’s camera cutout reveals it a bit.
Obviously it’s a frivolity, but if there’s a chance to choose a color, I’m going to choose the color I like best, because why not. For me that’s always been the white-silver-starlight scheme for phones, or lately the green if there’s a green. (Orange is right out!) And since I use mostly open-back/bumper cases, you can actually see the color.
But I like my laptops in the space gray/black scheme. PowerBook charcoal is sort of my goal there.

I would always get a project red if available just to support that project. Phone is in a case, so almost no color is visible anyway.

I’m right in line with the “I really don’t mind” crowd (to use the British expression…hopefully correctly!). I have a clear case, so I can see the color. If it’s available, I’ll always pick a dark gray variant, but my 17 didn’t give me that option, so I chose dark blue. It’s fine.
I used to get clear or dark gray cases but I happened upon an otter-style three part case for my 16 Pro that had blue accents (bezel and kickstand) which match my sunglass frames and some of my favorite neckties and echoes my school colors. Now I look slightly more put together than I used to, and with very little effort. Winning!
I quite like the look of the Orange and definitely wanted that Green Pro they had a few models back.
But I’ve only ever bought Space Grey or Black. The color would not be a key determinant of whether I purchased, given that the decision to buy is usually down to which current model is available to ship at that time.
And they’re in a case from day one. Not particularly, I guess is my answer.
