How good is the Journal app in OS 26?

From those who have used the new Journal app in iPadOS 26 and macOS 26… How reliable would you say the new apps are? Can you trust them to:

  1. Properly sync via iCloud
  2. Not lose any data
  3. Have a decent UX (user experience)

I’ve only used the Journal app on the Mac. It’s a decent start but has bugs (most notably for me, adding any location freezes the app). I note other people are experiencing the same bug. I trust it will get better with time.

I’ve not lost any data but I can’t comment on the iCloud sync as I don’t use it on other devices.

It’s available and free so if you think it might be useful, just give it a shot.

If you’re like me and new to Journalling, you have nothing to lose by trying it. If you use another app and are thinking of switching, you could just copy/paste stuff from your current app and try it out. It would give a nice side-by-side comparison.
