Headset suggestions

I’m looking for a headset/microphone for my iphone SE.

I want something that’s easy to switch to/away from when calls come in, so I’m thinking wired.

I’ve found that if I connect a bluetooth headset the phone defaults to that and when a call comes in I’m wondering why I can’t hear anything on the phone and that’s because it’s on the headset…

Also, I wear hearing aids and I can’t stuff earbuds in on top of the hearing aids. So I’d like to find an over the ear, wired headset/microphone with a lighting connector.

I can’t seem to find anything.

I do have a 3.5mm to lightning adapter, but it seems flimsy and I think it’s going to fail at some point. But I may have to go that route.

I have an old Plantronics headset that terminates in a 3.5mm plug that would work. A newer Plantronics headset with a USB-A termination that you can get a USB-C to USB-A adapter. Note, I have never tried that, I am speculating.
I personally have gone the bluetooth route with my hearing aids using a Shokz headset. It using bone conducting which is fine for phone calls.

To future proof, you should consider getting a USB-C to Lightening adapter and then get a USB-C headset. Apple sells such an adapter., while Plantronics sells a wide range of over-the-ear phone headsets.
