Functional and Conceptual Pitfalls in Siri’s ChatGPT Integration

MacGPT appears to be a front end on OpenAI’s ChatGPT, is there a benefit? why not just use the ChatGPT app? I use Perplexity.ai much as you describe and it can draw upon several AIs. I value the link backs which we don’t see in Siri’s integration.

Are you using ChatGPT Plus on the backend? I really, really need to subscribe to that and start testing its search capabilities.

Perplexity, which uses AI with a real search engine, works quite well.

Currently I am using MacGPT without using ChatGPT Plus backend. ChatGPT Plus requires a subscription with a monthly fee, which may be good for a business, but not necessary for me at the moment. I do miss out on some features, and I was hoping Apple Intelligence might fill the blanks but not yet.

Without the ChatGPT Plus subscriptions, I do face a monthly cap on my enquiries. Each version offers more features and uses.

MacGPT is good for searches. Initially I made the mistake in using limited keywords, but learnt the benefit of being descriptive. One excellent benefit is the ability to ask follow up questions and get refinement in responses. Also answers are not distorted by sponsored listings.

Recently I asked for recommendations for, and got, 10 top local legal professionals in a special field of law. I cross-checked with a lawyer friend and he agreed with the recommendations made by ChatGPT. This would not have worked using Google search.
