Short version:
I cannot rename iCloud document folders which some unkown process changed to include a “2”. When I remove the 2, seconds later it reappears. These folder names are unique.
Did anybody experience this strange behaviour?
Most important to me, how can I rename the unique folders by removing the “2” in the folder name?
Long version:
2 days ago I had macOS Ventura (latest version) change the location of my Documents folder to reside in iCloud. Everything seemed to have worked flawlessly.
Yesterday I realised that some rules in Hazel stopped working. I found out that the folders selected in these rules were not available anymore.
When checking the folders in iCloud I am seeing that plenty of subfolders (only those 3 steps down from the Documents folder level) were renamed showing a trailing “2”.
I renamed a few folders by deleting the “2” from its name, but a second or so later the “2” reappeared. This is reproduceable.
In a few cases some process did rename the original folder adding a “2” (showing the original creation date/time and time modified 15:28) while keeping the files in that folder, created a new folder with the original name (time added and modified 15:33) and moved the subfolder(s) there.
Time stamps on the renamed folders are similar in the range of 15:28 - 15:34 - 15:36 - 16:11 - 18:33.
Yesterday early evening I upgraded to macOS Sonoma. The afternoon times mentioned above still fall in the Ventura installation. I do not think that upgrading to Sonoma is a factor.
I add 2 pdf files for visualisation purposes, however they do not show everything, as it is just too much data. I estimate that around 200 folder names were changed, maybe 10-20 were added, renaming the original and moving the subfolders to the other one as described above.
