File-GoodReader access issue

I use GoodReader to store confidential files on my iPad. GoodReader and iPad makes it easy to take many files to meetings with clients.

GoodReader has the facility to restrict access to itself. But the Files app bypasses the GoodReader restriction when doing browsing. Maybe the same issue happens with other apps.

I cannot find a way of stopping the Files app browsing GoodReader. I am hoping that someone in the TidBits community might have solution to this Files-GoodReader problem.

You need to turn on GoodReader’s encryption option to fix this. There are instructions inside the app’s help. Note that encryption is a paid option for GoodReader (premium feature).

Thanks I know. I have set Files to open on Face ID that gets a result. I would prefer not to have to do this and I decide what should be in Files.

The Files app by definition allows you to access files that are stored on the iPad and iCloud (and any external storage devices that you connect.)

I’ve never used it myself, but GoodReader does allow you to access network-connected files. If you have your own such server, these files will not be exposed to the Files app. See their user manual Networking : Connecting to Servers & Network Folders. Sync with GoodReader Pro for iPad and iPhone.
